the 870 Wingmaster® history

An Enthusiast’s Blog Dedicated to the Model 870™ Wingmaster®

On April 13th, 2009, the ten millionth Model 870 pump shotgun was sold making the Remington 870 the best-selling shotgun in the world. It has been applied around the world and is a trusted partner on any hunt and under all conditions.

The Remington® Wingmaster® was introduced in 1950 as a “modern, streamlined, rugged, reliable, and relatively inexpensive shotgun...”3 and has been a hunters’ (and skeet/trap shooters’) favorite ever since.

Today’s Wingmasters® separate themselves from other Remington 870s by their signature polished bluing and choice of glossy or satin stock (20, 28, .410). They are available in 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge and .410 bore.

As always, if you have any images, notations, or back-issue ads I would greatly appreciate the help as I flush out the large number of models that have been produced since 1950.

As this is simply a hobby, please be patient as I add models and imagery when time allows.
